Board Secretary
Catherine is a 27-year-old student, tennis player, and qualified coach, with a lifelong passion
for exploring cultures, people, and music. She has travelled to more than 21 countries,
immersing herself in local cultures, meeting people, tasting local food, and discovering diverse
musical traditions. Growing up in a multilingual household and speaking fluent German has
given her a deep appreciation for cultural diversity.
From a young age, her parents shared their love of music at home, exposing her to a wide
variety of traditions. She developed a particular fondness for traditional Greek and Indian
songs, Balinese gamelan, and other global musical forms, which shaped her lifelong
appreciation for diverse music. Although not a musician herself, Catherine now experiences
music in new ways through her fiancée, a classical pianist, making it an even more meaningful
part of her life.
She sees a strong connection between tennis and music, where discipline, practice, and
improvisation when embraced, create rewarding and meaningful experiences.
Catherine hopes
to bring the same approach she takes as a coach (combining focus, creativity and fun) to the
Lutruwita Art Orchestra community.
Catherine is completing her Arts/Law degree at UTAS, on track to graduate with First Class
Honours. Her studies in philosophy have shaped her open-minded, critical, and curious
approach to challenges. She brings organisation, communication, and a willingness to learn to
everything she does and is excited to contribute to the Lutruwita Art Orchestra’s mission of
celebrating diversity, creativity, and collaboration through music.
