Swiss by birth, Marie studied and practiced medicine in WA, the NT and Tasmania, in a variety of forms, including 4 years of AIDS medicine at Royal Perth Hospital, followed by employment with the AIDS Council; Remote Area Medicine and Aboriginal Health in Kakadu; Emergency Medicine in Hobart and currently work as a part time surgical assistant.
Activities nowadays revolve around supporting music and environmental responsibility.
Her first novel - 'The Diemen Alexander' - published by Clandestine Press, is a SciFi adventure story set in Tasmania, themed around the ethical treatment of animals. The next is in process.
Marie has run numerous ultramarathons in the beautiful wild places of Australia, including two fundraisers for the Bob Brown Foundation: The Takayna Run to Save Wild Places.

Marie played (very) amateur clarinet and tuba with the Clarence Community Band for 5 years and occasionally took part in community events, but now mainly facilitates career musicians.
She is a supporter of the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra and the Tuba Chair sponsor of the TSO.

Marie also has envisaged and commissioned works from emerging from Tasmanian composers, One notably from Tim Jones’ The Mountain (about Kunanyi) and Jabra Latham, The Antarctic Triptych and The Fire Music (about bushfire). All of these have been performed by TSO ensembles, continue to receive further performance internationally, and the latter two are recorded and on rotation on ABC Classic FM.

Marie is also currently engaged in musical and fundraising projects for a new Tasmanian wildlife protection organisation.
